About the project
Angesichts der humanitären Katastrophe mit Tausenden von Toten im Mittelmeer entstand 2014 die Idee für das Projekt Sea-Watch. Im Frühjahr 2015 kauften sie einen alten Kutter und bauten ihn für den Einsatz zur Seenotrettung um. Mithilfe von zahlreichen ehrenamtlichen Aktivist:innen, die das Projekt in Deutschland aufbauten oder als Crewmitglieder seit Juni 2015 im Mittelmeer zwischen Libyen und Italien mitfuhren, ist es ihnen gelungen, Tausende von Menschen effektiv zu retten.
